WHAT CAN I DO AT HOME UP AVOID THE QARANTINE 15?

We have put together some tips for keeping your weight gain at bay during these crazy times.

CREATE ROUTINES

Its easy to lose control when you are working from home. Setting a daily routine to wake up and get dressed (even if you aren’t going anywhere) will make you feel more motivated everyday to reach your goals.

PLAN YOUR MEALS

Without a plan for what your eating, snacking becomes increasingly more enticing. Avoid unhealthy snacks by knowing when and what your next meal is going to be.

STAY HYDRATED

Thirst mimics hunger! Being dehydrated causes your body to crave fat and sugar which are the 2 main drivers of weight gain. Being dehydrated slows metabolism and prevents adequate digestion.

STEP OUTSIDE

No one has time for a 5k at lunch, but 20 minutes of nature time can help reduce cortisol. This will actually help with controlling eating habits and burn calories. Also, standing work stations improve metabolism and cause your body to burn more calories. Optimal ratio of sit to stand is about 1:1. Mayo clinic states that sitting for long periods of time increases risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and high blood sugar

GET A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP

Lack of proper sleep affects the hormone balance of your body, in particular Leptin. Leptin tells your body when to stop eating. Fatigue decreases Leptin production, increasing hunger and eating. Fatigue also leads to caffeine and sugar consumption, increasing cortisol production. This leads to weight gain. Think of sleep like a credit or debit card. If you are not getting enough sleep your body is constantly running at a debt, or deficit.
